Great Help August 25, 2010 Erik We used this on our 3 year old and after two nights of following the book we had a happy pre-schooler and happier parents. Recommended to many friends with kids. Would order again in a heartbeat.
Way better than Healthy Sleep Habits/Weissbluth August 17, 2010 K. Norwood Our Pediatrician recommended Healthy Sleep Habits...by Marc Weissbluth but the Ferber book is way better. Ferber is more forgiving (with his graduated extinction approach) than Weissbluth. Weissbluth book also came across as very "preachy" and not well-organized. The 2 books area said to contradict each other in some ways (length of sleep requirement, for one), but this book really hit the mark for us--especially after wondering why our child wasn't falling into the Weissbluth pattern. Get this book for sleep training your child! Buy it FIRST...but especially consider it if the Weissbluth method is failing you.
Worked for us!! July 25, 2010 NavyMommyof2 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm not writing a review discussing my views on child development or critic parenting, but what I will say is THIS METHOD WORKS! It does take a lot of patience and understanding cues from your child. I was not a huge fan of the thought of my baby (now babies!) crying and crying all alone but his method does not suggest that. It does help children learn to self soothe and learn their beds and cribs are for sleeping! Thank you for giving my sanity back Dr. Ferber!!
