| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This book has been created for patients who have decided to make education and research an integral part of the treatment process. Although it also gives information useful to doctors, caregivers and other health professionals, it tells patients where and how to look for information covering virtually all topics related to celiac disease (also Celiac sprue; Gluten enteropathy; Gluten intolerance; Nontropical sprue; Sprue), from the essentials to the most advanced areas of research. The title of this book includes the word official. This reflects the fact that the sourcebook draws from public, academic, government, and peer-reviewed research. Selected readings from various agencies are reproduced to give you some of the latest official information available to date on celiac disease. Given patients' increasing sophistication in using the Internet, abundant references to reliable Internet-based resources are provided throughout this sourcebook. Where possible, guidance is provided on how to obtain free-of-charge, primary research results as well as more detailed information via the Internet. E-book and electronic versions of this sourcebook are fully interactive with each of the Internet sites mentioned (clicking on a hyperlink automatically opens your browser to the site indicated). Hard-copy users of this sourcebook can type cited Web addresses directly into their browsers to obtain access to the corresponding sites. In addition to extensive references accessible via the Internet, chapters include glossaries of technical or uncommon terms.

Not up to date October 10, 2007 B. Jordan (Bellevue, WA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was back ordered so I assumed it was a new version. Not So. Some of the information in this book is good. It was published in 2002. A great deal has changed in the last 5 years, in the world of Celiac Disease. I saw no reference dates in the book later than 2001. Many of the websites listed no longer exist: the URLs were incorrect or outdated. For Example: the Gluten Intolerance Group is no longer in Seattle, WA, It is in Auburn, WA. I was anxiously awaiting this book but I have returned it and am waiting for a real "Revised and Updated" version, not another publishing run of a 2002 book.
Celiac Information March 14, 2006 Arlene S. Zivitz (Philadelphia Pa.) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is an excellent book for anyone who has Celiac disease , or for anyone who has a child with Celiac disease .The information is up to date & provides legitimate web sites , for support or for more medical information. I`ve been dealing with Cealiac since 1976 & I find that the information contained in this book to be most valuable.
