5 out of 5 stars Fluffy and flavorful, with a satisfying 'after-burn'   August 6, 2008
RevDorothyL (Nashville, TN USA)
I bought the 12-pack of this product because I saw a magazine article describing this as the favorite of all the side-dish-in-a-box foods they'd compared, and I was NOT disappointed.

It's not 'instant rice', so whether you cook it in the microwave or the stovetop, you'll have to wait a little while for the rice to cook, but it's well worth the wait. I cook two boxes at a time (so there are plenty of leftovers) and stir in extra ingredients sometimes (cooked chicken, or slivered almonds, or raisins with a bit of extra water) for a more main-dish pilaf effect. Or I just serve it as a side dish, with a few vegetables stir-fried in a separate pan.

As with most Thai curry dishes, fresh tomatoes and basil make a nice, cooling addition or garnish for the rice, once it's finished cooking (the packet of curry paste that comes with it gives a nice little kick as you eat this).

If you want dinner in under half an hour, and you want to be able to spend most of that half hour changing into comfortable clothes and setting your table, this would be a good product to have in your pantry.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous and spicy!   February 6, 2008

This is fabulous! No MSG and wonderful spicy taste, but you can choose not to add the spice packet (too spicy for my husband), but it is way better with it!
