Nice cooker, but Dr. Weil customer service bites December 31, 2008 Pamela M. Burkholder (Fort Worth, Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My husband bought this cooker for me for Christmas. I love it - beautiful, cooks great, and looks lovely on the counter. I cooked pork steaks with carrots for about 9 hours, then it went into "warm" - and turned out beautifully! The meat was tender and juicy. Unfortunately, the first time we washed the crock, my husband bumped it lightly against our granite countertop and cracked the ceramic insert - a large chip out of the time, and about a 4" hairline crack down one side. So, now it is unusable. I contacted Dr. Weil (Waterford) customer service, and was told that "Dr. Weil/Spring doesn't offer any replacement items." Nothing. I wasn't asking for a free replacement, but you can't even purchase one! Fortunately we still have the receipt and the store is going to let us return it, but if we hadn't, we'd have just purchased a very expensive ceramic planter. UGH. This is a great item, but my advice is to be extremely, EXTREMELY careful with the ceramic insert because if it breaks, you ain't getting a replacement! It appears that the more expensive the slow cooker, the more fragile the ceramic insert.
This cooker really cooks October 19, 2008 Nanni (Salisbury, Maryland United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this cooker last February and have cooked a wide variety of foods in it. We just got back from a large family camping trip and this product made our trip so much more enjoyable! The evening meal was a relaxed time together as our Weil cooker did the work while we enjoyed our time together in the daytime. Clean-up is quick and easy. This cooker is very predictable, with every meal tasting great. It will be "working" on Thanksgiving Day as we enjoy our family-cream of crab soup--anyone?

I had researched slow cookers, asking friends and family who had them. After looking in stores and online, I chose this slow cooker. I am very pleased with the quality. I have not used the "bells and whistles" on it, (referring to the preprogrammed part.) Nothing to complain about on this buy.
